Abstract

Background: Elderly is defined as someone who reaches the age of more than 60 years. and where a person will experience physical, mental, and social setbacks. Nutritional status for the elderly is very important to assess the nutritional state of the elderly, one of which is by measuring BMI and examining body composition using Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA). Objective: To know the description of nutritional status and body composition in geriatric patients at the Golden Care Clinic, Panti Rapih Hospital. Methods: This study was an analytic cross-sectional study with the respondents being patients at the Golden Care clinic (n=118). The data were analyzed by using the kai square test. Result: Gender of respondents consisted of 45.8 percent and 54.2 percent. The age of respondents aged 60-74 years was 89.8 percent and those aged 75 years were 10.2 percent. Patients with good nutritional status were 44.1 percent and 55.9 percent were not. Conclusion: The results showed that there was a significant relationship between percent body fat, visceral fat and biological age with nutritional status based on BMI (p<0.05). Recommendation: The relationship between BMI and body fat and viscelar fat, which is likely to be the risk of degenarative diseases, needs to be pursued continuously in the implementation of the GERMAS program, especially increasing fruit and vegetable consumption, physical activity in orderly.
